Are   you   over   10   years   of   age   and   ENJOY   snowmobiling ??

Then you need to take this one day safety class and when you complete the class you will be awarded a NYS Snowmobile Safety Certificate.

“ All snowmobilers should take this class at least once in their lifetime” indicated  Greg Henry, president of the Thousand Islands Snowmobile Club that sponsors two of these classes each season.

Youth ages 14 through 17 years old  MAY operate a snowmobile, on lands where snowmobiling is allowed, without adult or other supervision if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York.

If youth ages 14 through 17 years have not completed the training course, they MAY operate a snowmobile if accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is at least 18 years of age.

Youth ages 10 through 13 MAY operate a snowmobile, on lands where snowmobiling is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York and are accompanied by (within 500 feet of) a person who is at least 18 years of age.

Children less than 10 years old or less than age 14 without a safety certificate MAY operate a snowmobile ONLY on lands owned or leased by their parent or guardian.

The class will be held at our groomer barn / club house  at 16470 County Route 11 in Depauville. . The class starts at 10 AM and concludes at 4 PM. Lunch is provided by the Thousand Islands Snowmobile Club – free of charge.     The date is Saturday December 9th, 2017.

The class is being conducted by New York State Parks and Recreation with guest appearances by Park Police and a display of antique snowmobiles. Students will also be able to see firsthand the groomers that keep our local trails smooth and be able to climb up in them and see what it looks like from the cab of a Class A groomer.

Upon completion of this class, graduates are invited to join the Thousand Islands Snowmobile Club which has responsibility to safely maintain over 80 miles of trails throughout the towns of Alexandria, Orleans, Clayton, Chaumont and Cape Vincent.
