Event Details

The Alexandria Township Historical Society will sponsor an Architecture and History Tour on Friday, August 11 as the second fund-raiser of the 2017 season. Architect Robert Charron and Thousand Islands local historian, Judy Keeler, will highlight homes of interest on a route between Sylvan Island and Swift Water Point. Charron and Keeler will provide expert commentary bringing the audience back in time to an era when giant steamships and private steam yachts ferried cottage owners and tourists to magnificent summer retreats among the islands. The Architecture and History Tour will present in-depth information on the region’s rich architectural history and enable one to view close-up, sites that are seldom seen on most boat tours.
